Sir,

I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 18th instant, No. 38226/1919, regarding mental patients from Hong Kong per s.s. "NEURALIA”, and in reply have to inform you that these passengers were dealt with as follows;-

Mrs. Eastman was removed by Dr.G.A.Bruce, her Kedical attendant, Middle Lane, Hornsey.

Miss Stella Donelly, Fred Vernon, Hans Lareen and V.A.Rutter were handed over to the Relieving Officer at Grays, as is customary in similar cases, and conveyed to Brentwood Asylum.

With regard to Mrs. Cooke, I have no knowledge of this lady, and on enquiry, find that her name does not appear on the Passenger List of the steamer.

I am, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Secretary.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

London, S.7.
